Indeed, Allah the Mighty and Majestic has kept the doors of seeking forgiveness open for all those who have committed major sins, so that none may despair of Allah’s mercy. Even if they have committed sins and atrocities, such as shirk (associating partners with Allah), killing an innocent person and committing adultery etc. Thus Allah has kept the doors of repentance open for them, so that they may turn penitently to Allah from their evil acts before they die.

Usama ibn Zaid (R.A) reports that he asked Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “O messenger of Allah! I have seen you fasting in the month of Sha’ban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month.” Prophet Muhammad (SAW) replied: “Sha’ban is a month between Rajab and Ramadhan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds is presented before the Lord of the Universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting.” (Ahmad and Nasai) 

According to Abdullah bin Mas’ud (ra), Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “On the Day of Resurrection the feet of the son of Adam will not move away till he is questioned about five matters.” (Tirmidhi) and received their answers, because man was not certainly created for play but for serving Allah Alone. The five matters are:
