A Muslim views traveling as a necessary part of his life that he cannot do without. The Hajj, Umrah, Jihad, seeking knowledge, trade and visiting his brethren are either mandatory or obligatory parts of life. Therefore, he is bound to travel. For this reason, the Shari’ah has covered the aspects of traveling and its etiquette. Such concern cannot be denied. A pious Muslim must learn these etiquettes and apply them in his life.

Usama ibn Zaid (R.A) reports that he asked Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “O Messenger of Allah! I have seen you fasting in the month of Sha’ban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month.” Prophet Muhammad (SAW) replied: “Sha’ban is a month between Rajab and Ramadhan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds is presented before the Lord of the Universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting.” (Ahmad and Nasai)

Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur’an: “Glorified be He who carried His servant by night from Al-Masjid al-Haram (the inviolable place of worship) to Al-Masjid al-Aqsa (the far distance place of worship), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, that We might show him or our token. Lo! He is the Hearer, and the Seer.” (Al-Isra’: 1)
