Fruits for the Week

You are a Muslim, you are a believer and therefore, you are upon tremendous good. Our Prophet (saw) heard a man say: “Praise is to Allah for Islam.” So he said: “Verily you have praised Allah for an immense favor.

Do you possess two eyes, two lips, two hands, and two feet? Allah (swt) said: “Then which of the blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?” (Ar-Rahman: 13)

Ponder upon the blessings of your Creator and Protector, the King of kings, the One who knows about you. Be grateful to your Lord for He is the best to assist during calamities.

Do not grieve, for Allah who knows what is in the heavens and the earth. He who sees you at all times, who knows about your condition, He to whom you are servant will never abandon you.

Do your eyes sleep? Then remember, there are some others whose eyes are encircled by the agony of sleep. Are you able to walk upon your feet? Then remember, there is one whose leg or legs have been amputated. Are you unable to walk? Are you able to have your stomach full of food? Then remember there is one who sees food before him and craves it but is unable to eat. Remember that some people’s waters are so muddy; they are not able to drink them. Do you hear the signs of Allah? Do you hear the hymns of the sparrow? Do you hear the rustling of the tree as it glorifies its Creator? Are you able to see the signs of Allah and the beauty of His universe; the seas, open plains, and mountains? Are you able to see your kids, wives, and beloved ones? Do not forget that some are unable to see or hear.

“Why do you lament and say you are impoverished while the earth, heavens, and stars are at your service?” You are a Muslim and one of the best of Allah’s creatures in terms of blessings.

O beloved brother, there is another aspect to this life in the Hereafter. O Muslim brother, O believer, there awaits you gardens of delight (Paradise) and the beautiful Houris – fair females, with wide, lovely eyes who will encircle you. So, be happy and do not grieve.

While I was studying in Scotland, I met with a colleague from Malaysia who lives there, he said to me: “O brother, give thanks to Allah and rejoice that you are from a father and mother who are both Muslims. You live in a Muslim city; you hear the adhan (call to prayer) five times every day; all those who surround you are Muslims. Rejoice upon your Islam, your Iman, your religion and the fact that you are a servant of the Lord of the universe.”

Then he said: “Congratulations, O Arab Muslim, those who appreciate and understand the meanings of the verses of Allah contained in His tremendous Book.” He requested me to praise Allah very much. Then he gave a sign saying: “Do you know my ambition? It is that I graduate from the university (he was then a Master of Engineering candidate) and then work not for a career; rather, in order to earn enough for myself, my mother, and my wife to proceed for Umrah (the lesser pilgrimage) and Hajj (the pilgrimage) so that I may see the Ka’bah (the House of Allah in His Noble Mosque at Makkah), the Maqaam (place) of Ibrahim and that I might drink from the water of Zamzam; and that I struggle to get an opportunity to work close to the Sacred Mosque

Which soul could be more wretched than one which does not know about Islam and is not guided thereto? Allah (swt) said: “And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him.” (Al-Imran: 85)

A Muslim preacher settled in a German city and found a billboard at the entrance of the city which was advertising a kind of vehicle tyre, “You don’t know Yokohama?” So, the Muslim preacher erected another billboard beside it with the inscriptions, “You don’t know Islam? If you wish to know about it, contact me on this number.”

He narrates that he received thousands of calls from Germany and elsewhere, and more than a hundred thousand men and women accepted Islam through him. He also established a mosque, an Islamic Centre, and a study circle.
